The step-down configuration is a classic design that predates the Super Z style. Although it requires a bit more work to fit to the rod (as the male slide has an interior step with two different dimensions), it is still preferred by some rodmakers for its low-profile finished look. (For three-piece rods, the truncated version is recommended due to its reduced length.)
Optional Professional Ferrule Fitting
Male slides are typically machined to within .0015" to allow for final fitting by the rodmaker according to their personal preference. If you would like CSE to professionally lap your ferrules to a full, easy fit for $22 per male ferrule, simply select this option when making your selection.
